Yes.

Why is this of concern to us in Arizona?

Because Florida is concerned about amoeba in their drinking water?

Here is why we should come up with a plan ‘just in case amoeba appears in our drinking water’:

If your water contains  the amoeba Naegleria fowleri – if this goes up your nose it can cause a severe and often fatal condition called primary amebic meningoencephalitis.  This infection occurs when the amoeba enters your nose and travels to your brain.

What is the cure?

A whole house reverse osmosis unit.

We have these available on a rental basis.  We take care of all the maintenance (saves you thousands of dollars over time):

There is nothing good about getting amebic meningoencephalitis.

If you receive an infection of Naegleria; this can cause serious brain damage and swelling that often leads to death.  This condition is called primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM).

It is a good idea for us here in Arizona to be prepared (just in case) because

Naegleria loves the heat and thrives in warm or hot water.  Arizona; let’s stay on guard and watch out for this amoeba.  No Naegleria is welcome in Arizona.

Just remember:  we got you covered with a complete solution: our whole house reverse osmosis unit will protect you.

How does Boyett’s family whole house reverse osmosis unit protect me from this severe and often fatal condition (primary amebic meningoencephalitis)?

The size of the amoeba can range in size from 2 microns to 5000.

Our reverse osmosis unit will remove amoebas as small as 0.0001 micron.

Here are some other advantages of having a whole house reverse osmosis unit (this text also includes a description of the RO process):

  • Reverse Osmosis Systems use a process that reverses the flow of water in a natural process of osmosis so that water passes from a more concentrated solution to a more dilute solution through a semi-permeable membrane. Pre- and post-filters are often incorporated along with the reverse osmosis membrane itself.
  • A reverse osmosis filter has a pore size of approximately 0.0001 micron.
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing protozoa (for example, Cryptosporidium, Giardia);
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing bacteria (for example, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli);
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems have a very high effectiveness in removing viruses (for example, Enteric, Hepatitis A, Norovirus, Rotavirus);
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems will remove common chemical contaminants (metal ions, aqueous salts), including sodium, chloride, copper, chromium, and lead; may reduce arsenic, fluoride, radium, sulfate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, nitrate, and phosphorous.

I am laying it all on the line when I say:  we will look after your health and your water treatment.  We will continue to look at possible health concerns and how we can apply our water treatment acumen to make you safer and more healthy.

Here is some more information about PAM:

  • There is currently no official cure for PAM; presently, the best cure is prevention. Additionally, most people who have gotten PAM have died.
  • In addition to outdoor bodies of water (fresh water rivers, ponds, lakes, etc.), N. fowleri can be found in warm tap water, hot water heaters, aquariums, swimming pools, hot spas, and any other place containing untreated warm water.
  • PAM may become worse as climates get warmer, waterways become more polluted, and water sports become more and more popular.
  • The symptoms of PAM can easily be confused with other diseases (such as viral/bacterial meningitis), thus slowing down proper diagnosis and treatment.
  • N. fowleri may evolve into a human host hunter if its usual bacteria food supplies are compromised.
  • This amoeba produces symptoms relatively quickly (1 to 7 days) and leads to death also within a short time (1 to 12 days after symptoms set in).
  • N. fowleri appears to be a very common microbe in our environment.
  • Once the microbe finds its way into someone’s nose, it can lead to PAM.

Let us keep you safe.  If your home has a whole house RO unit you do not need to worry about PAMs or

Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli or Giardia in your water.

Check this out:

A rare case of brain-eating amoeba has been confirmed in Florida. Officials are telling residents to take precautions with tap water and to swim with nose clips.

Here is the unit we recommend to remove amoeba from our water:

This is a picture of me with the founders of our firm.  We are looking at a news article written about a water treatment award they received.  On November 11th, 1972 Rayne Water Conditioning of Tempe, Arizona and Mesa, Arizona and Phoenix Arizona was awarded a very high honor from Rayne Water Conditioning of Arizona.   We were all very proud.

Here is the trophy to prove it.

We keep this trophy prominently displayed in our office to give us hope, courage and to inspire us as we strive to give you the very most promising water treatment in this Arizona desert.

  With our continued hard work we provide our specific water treatment service to Arizona; these specific services and in these areas:

In honor of a great man

Larry Alan Gunnell, the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend that anyone could ask for, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 8, 1939 in La Tuna, TX to Ernest and Lorene Gunnell. At a young age, he learned how truly important family is and he had an amazing bond with his three brothers, Ernie, Don and Jack. Through his family, he formed a passion for hunting and passed this on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry attended Peoria High School where he was a talented football player, president of the FFA, and formed friendships that would last him a lifetime. His years involved in the FFA inspired a love of gardening, which to this day is evident to anyone who steps foot into his backyard.

In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Marcia Maierle, and treated her like a queen for 62 years. He was a loving and patient father to Bonnie and Jon, Don and Peggy, and Dave and Peggie. He was also the most caring and silly Papa to Trista, Mandi, Jerene, Savanna, Jon-Michael, Krystle, R.J., Marci, Jeffrey, and Noelle, as well as 16 great-grandchildren. He was incredibly proud of his huge family and made sure to instill the value of tradition and unconditional love in each and every one of them.

In 1970, Larry and Marcia opened Rayne Water Systems of West Phoenix in Peoria, AZ. Through this family-owned and operated business, he was able to employ his children and many other family members so that they could care and provide for their own families. This was a true testament to the incredible family man that he was.

Larry’s legacy and legendary wit will live on forever for generations to come. This isn’t goodbye, it’s “See you later alligator”.

I was fortunate to spend much time with Larry Gunnell over these many years.  I knew when I was in his presence – fun is destined to be had.  There was always laughter and an all-around good cheer.  For many years we collaborated as fellow Rayne dealers in the Rayne of Peoria, Rayne of Goodyear and Rayne of Phoenix area which also included Rayne of the North Valley.  Larry was always unselfish with his talents and his treasure.  To me Larry was also a great encouragement.  Larry was a work inspiration that I seek to emulate and aggrandize (as I understand Larry worked on a daily basis at Rayne of Phoenix Arizona ‘up until’ just one year ago).  Larry worked a great life; Larry lived an incredible life and made many people happy and did a great job of treating their water and their hearts.  Larry made people happy and he loved this.

Larry, I say to you “See you later alligator”.  I look forward because I know there will be feelings of good will and happiness then (again).

Larry Gunnell was a great friend of our founders Brian Boyett and Roberta Hayden Boyett.  I enjoyed watching our founders interact and aggrandize their relationship with these fine people.

Please give us a chance to earn your water treatment trust and loyalty.

Cordially, Hayden Boyett
